Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Planning

  • Provide proactive tax planning for high‑net‑worth individuals, families, trusts, and business owners.
  • Advise on strategies related to income tax, estate and gift tax, charitable giving, and multi‑year tax optimization.
  • Collaborate with wealth advisors to integrate tax considerations into investment, retirement, and estate plans.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts in a clear, client‑friendly manner.

Tax Compliance & Review

  • Oversee preparation and review of individual, trust, and estate tax returns.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely filing of all tax deliverables.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation, workpapers, and internal controls.
  • Manage relationships with external tax preparers when needed.

Technical Leadership

  • Stay current on federal and state tax law changes and interpret their impact on clients.
  • Develop and refine internal tax processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Serve as the internal subject‑matter expert for tax questions from advisors and clients.
  • Train and mentor junior team members or support staff involved in tax work.

Client Relationship Management

  • Participate in client meetings as the lead tax resource.
  • Build long‑term relationships through trust, responsiveness, and high‑quality advice.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the client experience through tax‑focused strategies.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and wealth management or family office exposure.
  • Strong expertise in individual, trust, and estate taxation.
  • CPA required; MST or JD/LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
  • Experience working with high‑net‑worth clients and complex tax situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify technical topics.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive, client‑first mindset.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients feel confident and supported in all tax‑related decisions.
  • Advisors rely on you as a trusted partner in delivering holistic planning.
  • Tax processes run smoothly, efficiently, and with exceptional accuracy.
  • The firm’s tax capabilities grow under your leadership.
