Partner, Technical Accounting and IPO Advisory
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an accomplished Partner to lead its Technical Accounting and IPO Advisory practice. This senior leadership role will focus on helping high-growth and emerging public companies navigate complex technical accounting matters, IPO readiness, SEC reporting requirements, and broader financial transformation initiatives.
The Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, boards, and finance leaders, providing strategic guidance throughout the public-market readiness process and beyond. This individual will also play a significant role in expanding the practice, developing client relationships, mentoring professionals, and identifying new opportunities to deliver innovative advisory solutions.
Performance Objectives

Lead IPO Readiness and SEC Advisory: Direct complex IPO readiness engagements, including S-1 preparation, SEC reporting, financial statement disclosures, accounting policies, and other requirements associated with transitioning to the public markets.

Provide Technical Accounting Expertise: Advise clients on complex accounting matters and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, SEC guidance, and other applicable accounting and reporting requirements.

Build Executive-Level Relationships: Establish trusted relationships with CFOs, Controllers, CEOs, audit committees, boards, and other senior stakeholders, positioning the firm as a strategic advisor on technical accounting and public-company readiness.

Drive Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand existing client relationships, leverage professional networks, and contribute to achieving and exceeding annual revenue and growth objectives.

Lead High-Performing Teams: Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain talented professionals while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and exceptional client service.

Deliver Complex Advisory Engagements: Oversee multiple client engagements, ensuring high-quality deliverables, effective project management, appropriate risk management, and adherence to deadlines and budgets.

Advance Innovation: Identify and implement innovative approaches, technologies, data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that enhance technical accounting and financial advisory services.

Collaborate Across Service Lines: Partner with internal leaders and multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive solutions addressing clients' broader finance, accounting, reporting, and business transformation needs.

Contribute to Practice Strategy: Help shape the growth strategy, market positioning, service offerings, and long-term direction of the Technical Accounting and IPO Advisory practice.

Essential Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, financial reporting, transaction advisory, or a related professional services environment.
- Extensive experience supporting IPOs, SEC reporting, public-company readiness, and complex technical accounting matters.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and familiarity with IFRS and other applicable accounting standards.
- Proven experience leading complex client engagements from strategy through execution, preferably within a professional services or consulting organization.
- Demonstrated success developing and expanding executive-level client relationships and generating new business.
- Strong leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing consulting or advisory teams.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into profitable growth.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Active CPA license or equivalent professional accounting certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with high-growth companies, venture-backed organizations, private equity-backed businesses, or companies preparing to enter the public markets.
- Experience advising clients through IPO transactions, including S-1 registration statements and SEC comment processes.
- Experience with complex transactions such as business combinations, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, consolidations, debt and equity transactions, and other significant accounting matters.
- Existing network of senior finance and executive-level relationships within relevant industries.
- Experience developing new advisory offerings, methodologies, or technology-enabled solutions.
