Staff Accountant
Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's financial reporting and accounting operations by preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and reporting deadlines.
- Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Analysis & Problem Solving
- Review financial data and identify trends, inconsistencies, or areas requiring further investigation.
- Research and resolve accounting issues while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Provide recommendations to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Exercise sound judgment when addressing accounting challenges and operational issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with operational and business teams to understand transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Build strong working relationships across departments to support business objectives and financial reporting needs.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to internal stakeholders.
Process Improvement
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Recommend and implement improvements to streamline workflows and strengthen internal controls.
- Contribute to initiatives that enhance accounting operations and support strategic business objectives.
- Support special projects and other ad hoc assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress toward certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
