Strategic Account Director

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Account Director to drive enterprise business development and expand strategic client relationships within complex, asset-intensive industries. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while building long-term partnerships with enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate is a consultative sales professional with a strong track record of selling enterprise solutions into industrial, energy, manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, or technology-driven organizations. This individual excels at navigating complex buying environments, engaging executive stakeholders, and developing account strategies that deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and close new enterprise business opportunities within targeted industries and strategic accounts.
  • Develop and execute account plans focused on long-term growth and customer expansion.
  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers across operations, engineering, maintenance, project management, digital transformation, information technology, and executive leadership.
  • Conduct market research to identify high-value prospects and emerging business opportunities.
  • Generate and qualify sales opportunities through networking, relationship building, referrals, and proactive outreach.

Enterprise Sales & Account Management

  • Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand customer objectives, operational challenges, and business priorities.
  • Develop tailored solutions and business cases that align customer needs with organizational capabilities.
  • Manage the full enterprise sales cycle from initial engagement through contract negotiation and closing.
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder buying processes while building consensus among technical and executive decision-makers.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline activity, and account plans within CRM systems.

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish trusted relationships with strategic customers and serve as a long-term business advisor.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships and increase account value.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth customer onboarding and successful implementation.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events, and customer meetings to strengthen market presence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with product, engineering, marketing, customer success, and executive leadership to develop effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Provide customer feedback and market intelligence to support product development and business planning.
  • Share industry trends, competitive insights, and customer needs to help shape future sales strategies.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of enterprise sales, strategic account management, or business development experience.
  • Proven success selling complex solutions into enterprise organizations.
  • Experience working with industrial, manufacturing, energy, engineering, infrastructure, technology, or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Strong understanding of consultative selling methodologies and enterprise sales cycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage executive-level stakeholders and influence complex buying decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple strategic opportunities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred

  • Experience selling software, SaaS, digital transformation, engineering technology, or enterprise technology solutions.
  • Existing relationships within industrial, manufacturing, energy, construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience managing large enterprise accounts with long sales cycles.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales forecasting tools.
  • Experience developing executive business cases and value-based sales presentations.
