Senior Director of Product – Wealth & Retirement Platforms

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and industry-experienced Senior Director of Product to lead the vision, strategy, and execution for a wealth and retirement technology platform. This executive-level role owns the product strategy for IRA recordkeeping, retirement plan administration, compliance, trading, servicing, and accountholder experience.

This leader will operate at the intersection of regulatory complexity, operational excellence, and modern cloud-based technology. The ideal candidate brings deep retirement industry expertise, strong product leadership experience, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements and operational needs into scalable, differentiated platform capabilities.

You will work closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure the platform delivers exceptional partner and accountholder experiences while meeting evolving regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Own the product vision, multi-year strategy, and roadmap for retirement recordkeeping and wealth platform capabilities
  • Define and prioritize product investments that enhance platform reliability, regulatory compliance, and partner satisfaction
  • Align product strategy with engineering capacity and overall business objectives
  • Establish and monitor KPIs tied to platform performance, operational efficiency, partner satisfaction (NPS), and growth
  • Represent wealth and retirement products in executive leadership discussions and board-level strategy sessions

IRA Recordkeeping & Retirement Services

  • Lead product strategy for core IRA recordkeeping functions, including account administration, contributions, distributions, RMD processing, beneficiary management, Roth conversions, recharacterizations, and tax reporting (1099-R, 5498)
  • Drive retirement plan administration capabilities such as participant recordkeeping, enrollment workflows, census management, compliance testing, and sponsor reporting
  • Own trading and cashiering strategy including investment execution, money movement, fund management, systematic investing, rebalancing, and fee processing
  • Oversee servicing tools such as case management, correspondence, document generation, and operational workflows
  • Lead portal strategy for partners and accountholders, ensuring seamless self-service and white-label flexibility

Regulatory & Compliance Excellence

  • Serve as product subject matter expert on IRA regulations, retirement plan compliance, and fiduciary standards
  • Ensure platform adherence to IRS regulations, DOL requirements, ERISA standards, SECURE 2.0 provisions, and state-level mandates
  • Maintain deep expertise in contribution limits, distribution rules, RMD calculations, rollover processing, prohibited transaction rules, and annual reporting obligations
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to translate regulatory requirements into clear product specifications
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively evolve the roadmap to maintain industry leadership

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of Product Managers
  • Establish product management frameworks, operating rhythms, and best practices
  • Mentor and coach leaders on roadmap development, prioritization, stakeholder management, and execution
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, customer obsession, and continuous improvement

Partner & Cross-Functional Engagement

  • Engage directly with institutional partners to gather insights and validate product direction
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Data, Operations, and Customer Success to deliver integrated solutions
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance meet defined service-level expectations
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, advisory boards, and thought leadership forums

Required Qualifications

Industry & Domain Expertise

  • 15+ years of experience in retirement services, IRA recordkeeping, plan administration, custodial operations, or financial technology
  • Deep understanding of IRA account types (Traditional, Roth, SEP, SIMPLE, Inherited), contribution rules, RMDs, rollover processing, and tax reporting requirements
  • Strong knowledge of retirement plan compliance, including ERISA, DOL fiduciary standards, SECURE 2.0 provisions, compliance testing (ADP/ACP), and reporting obligations
  • Experience with recordkeeping systems, custody infrastructure, and retirement-focused technology ecosystems

Product Leadership

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including at least 5 years leading product managers
  • Proven success defining and executing strategy for complex, regulated financial platforms
  • Experience scaling product teams in high-growth fintech or SaaS environments
  • Strong command of agile product development, roadmap governance, and stakeholder alignment

Technical & Platform Experience

  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, API-first design, and modern development practices
  • Experience with payroll integrations, custody providers, fund companies, and third-party data exchanges
  • Understanding of AI/ML applications in financial services and intelligent automation strategies
  • Experience in B2B2C or white-label platform environments preferred

Leadership & Communication

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex regulatory and technical concepts for executive and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Strong executive presence with experience engaging partners and senior stakeholders

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field required
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent experience) preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 10+ years of product leadership experience in fintech, wealth management, or SaaS environments
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or otherwise authorized to work permanently in the United States
