Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our finance and accounting operations. The Controller will be a key member of the senior management team, responsible for all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, job cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry and a deep understanding of construction accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage the job cost accounting system, providing detailed analysis of project profitability and cost variances.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to the senior management team.
  • Manage banking relationships and assist with credit line and surety bonding requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee external audits.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
  • Manage WIP schedules and support project managers with cost tracking and forecasting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience within the construction industry.
  • Proven expertise in job cost accounting and construction-specific financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., [mention specific software like Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, etc.]).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
