Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our finance and accounting operations. The Controller will be a key member of the senior management team, responsible for all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, job cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry and a deep understanding of construction accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Manage the job cost accounting system, providing detailed analysis of project profitability and cost variances.
- Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to the senior management team.
- Manage banking relationships and assist with credit line and surety bonding requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
- Manage WIP schedules and support project managers with cost tracking and forecasting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience within the construction industry.
- Proven expertise in job cost accounting and construction-specific financial management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., [mention specific software like Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, etc.]).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
