Full-service landscape design-build firm in Rochester Hills, MI specializing in high-quality outdoor living environments, including patios, plantings, irrigation, lighting, hardscapes, and custom features is looking for a Landscaping Operations Manager. You’ll join a team that’s committed to craftsmanship, efficiency, and a positive client experience.


The Operations Manager oversees all day-to-day production activities of the design-build division. This role ensures that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to company quality standards. Responsibilities include scheduling crews, managing equipment and materials, improving field efficiency, and working closely with designers, project managers, and sales staff. The Operations Manager is the key link between the office and the field.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, coach, and support construction teams, crew leaders, and foremen.
  • Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and training of field staff.
  • Ensure teams follow safety protocols, company standards, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to support crews and monitor progress.


Project Scheduling & Coordination

  • Create and manage production schedules for all design/build projects.
  • Assign crews and equipment based on skill sets and workload.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, subcontractors, and equipment rentals.
  • Adjust schedules proactively to account for weather, delays, and project changes.


Production Oversight

  • Review project plans, estimates, and scopes of work prior to field execution.
  • Monitor job progress to ensure timelines, budgets, and specifications are met.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and provide solutions quickly.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs with project managers to verify completion quality.


Operational Systems & Efficiency

  • Improve workflows, processes, and communication between office and field.
  • Implement best practices for job tracking, material management, and crew productivity.
  • Maintain and manage company equipment, fleet, and tool inventory.
  • Track labor hours, job costing, and productivity metrics.


Client & Team Communication

  • Support project managers by communicating field updates and needs.
  • Occasionally meet with clients during construction to resolve concerns.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.


Qualifications:

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in landscape construction, design-build, or related field operations.
  • Strong understanding of hardscaping, softscaping, grading, drainage, and outdoor construction.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.


Preferred

  • Experience using scheduling, CRM, or project management software.
  • Certifications such as ICPI, NCMA, or horticulture training.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus.
