Chief of Staff @ AI-Native Consumer App Incubator
NY, USA
Apply for this job

Role: Narratives & Communications Lead

Location: New York City, NY (Brooklyn Navy Yard — On-Site, 5 Days/Week)

Salary: $150K–$200K + Equity

Our client is an AI-native consumer product incubator that builds and scales mobile apps at high velocity. Through a vertically integrated model, proprietary growth infrastructure, and AI-enabled development workflows, they rapidly test, learn, and scale products across categories like finance, health/wellness, and the creator economy.

Backed by leading investors and operated by a lean, high-talent-density team, they spin out winning products as independent entities once they reach meaningful scale.

Position Overview:

The Chief of Staff will report directly to the Founder/CEO and build the operating system that preserves speed as complexity grows. You’ll architect the planning, process, and execution frameworks that enable the team to ideate, pressure-test, and scale multiple consumer apps in parallel.

This is a high-ownership, systems-focused role for an operator who can turn ambiguity into clarity and ship outcomes quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build the company OS: Define the repeatable system for how ideas are sourced, validated, and scaled into real products and companies
  • Establish planning and goals: Create annual plans, quarterly goals, monthly targets, and OKRs the team actually uses
  • Design the operating rhythm: Standups, retros, and rituals that keep an 8-person team shipping like a 50-person team
  • Drive alignment: Run monthly check-ins, all-hands, and offsites to keep the team focused and coordinated
  • Own investor relations: Monthly updates, quarterly board materials, and memos; build a lightweight, repeatable machine
  • Make knowledge systems work: Bring discipline to the knowledge base so it becomes a true source of truth (not a junk drawer)
  • Run critical internal projects end-to-end: New entity formation, finance breakouts by company, stock option setup, asset transactions
  • Build the hiring engine: Stand up recruiting infrastructure for both the holding company and spinouts
  • Translate founder ideas into execution: Turn messy concepts into clear plans with owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes

Qualifications:

This is a role for a structured thinker and exceptional communicator who loves turning ambiguity into clarity.

You likely fit if you:

  • 5+ years total experience, including:
  • Consulting or equivalent analytical/operator background
  • 2+ years inside a VC-backed startup in a Chief of Staff or similar high-ownership role
  • Consumer context: Experience at a consumer-focused company (B2C/DTC/consumer apps)
  • Founder enablement: Experience “managing” or partnering closely with a high-velocity founder/CEO
  • Systems builder: Demonstrated ability to design processes that increase velocity and drive outcomes (not process for process’s sake)
  • NYC-based and excited about a 5-days-in-office environment
  • Bonus: Former founder

This role is not for you if:

  • You want to be a project coordinator, note-taker, EA, or meeting shadow
  • You prefer rigid structure and clearly bounded responsibilities
  • You want remote flexibility or a low-velocity environment
  • You see process as governance/control vs. a tool for speed
  • You’re uncomfortable owning ambiguous, cross-functional problems end-to-end

What they offer:

  • Competitive salary: $150K–$200K + meaningful equity in the holding company (with pro-rata exposure to portfolio companies)
  • Full health, dental, and vision coverage
  • All meals covered daily + a fully stocked office
  • $2K monthly stipend for therapy, commuting, gym — whatever keeps you effective and healthy
  • 4 weeks paid vacation
  • High ownership with direct access to the founding team
  • Clear paths to grow: Stay Chief of Staff, become a GM of a spinout, or develop toward a COO track
