Role: Chief of Staff
Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid – 3 days per week in office)
Salary/Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000
Our client is building an AI-first alternative to Shopify, Squarespace, and TikTok Shops. Imagine telling an AI “I’m selling X, Y, Z” and it designs your shop, launches ads, and manages your entire go-to-market motion. They are not just another no-code tool, but rather a marketing specialist in every entrepreneur’s pocket—serving SaaS companies, e-commerce brands, and founders worldwide.
The company has grown from $0 to $6M ARR in just 18 months and serves over 3,000 customers, including Fortune 500 brands like Mars (Skittles, M&Ms). With $8M in seed funding from General Catalyst, Y Combinator, Figma Ventures, and others, they are profitable, cash-efficient, and entering a critical scaling phase. The San Francisco-based team of 18 is expanding rapidly, with a high-performance, “always shipping” culture.
Position Overview:
The Chief of Staff will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Strategy & BizOps Lead. This role exists because the company is at an inflection point: they’ve proven product-market fit with their V1 Shopify builder ($6M ARR) and just launched their V2 AI-native commerce platform.
This is a high-ownership operator role with unusual access and expanded scope. The incoming Chief of Staff will partner directly with the CEO and influence business functions across product, engineering, and go-to-market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Automation & Workflows
- Build GTM automation infrastructure: experimentation, campaign optimization, HubSpot integrations, and lead gen systems
- Redesign and optimize cross-functional workflows and operations systems
- Approach: see a problem → propose solution in 1–2 days → build
- Recruiting Ownership
- Take all initial candidate screening calls and conduct interviews
- Partner strategically with third-party recruiters
- Automate and revamp recruiting workflows and outbound pipelines
- Understand hiring priorities in the context of business needs
- Financial Modeling & Strategic Analysis
- Build and maintain financial models for budgeting and growth forecasting
- Revenue and headcount projections for hiring plans
- Provide data-driven insights to leadership
- Cross-Functional Project Management
- Partner on critical initiatives from concept to completion
- Manage vendor relationships, legal docs, and operational workflows
- Own projects like outbound email infrastructure, ETL processes, recruiting revamps, and headcount modeling
Qualifications:
- 2–3+ years of startup experience in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments
- San Francisco presence – hybrid Mon/Tue/Thu in-office
- Experience conducting candidate interviews
- Technical fluency and light scripting ability (Python, spreadsheets, automation tools like n8n/GPT)
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
