Role: Chief of Staff

Location: San Francisco, CA (In-Person, 5 Days/Week)

Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed consumer health technology company building a platform to help patients with chronic conditions discover effective treatments and protocols.

The company is focused on addressing a large, underserved problem in healthcare, where millions of individuals are left to navigate complex conditions without clear guidance. By combining modern technology with patient-driven insights, they aim to create a more effective and personalized approach to health discovery.

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors and led by a repeat founder with multiple successful exits, the company is operating at an early stage with strong conviction, early momentum, and a clear long-term vision. This is a true zero-to-one environment where foundational systems, processes, and strategy are still being built.

Position Overview:

The Chief of Staff will act as a high-leverage extension of the CEO, helping scale decision-making, execution, and overall company operations. This individual will play a critical role in building the company’s internal operating system, driving cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring priorities are translated into consistent execution.

This is a highly dynamic role that spans operations, product support, recruiting, and go-to-market efforts. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, operates with a high degree of ownership, and is capable of turning loosely defined ideas into structured outputs quickly.

Over time, this individual is expected to take on increasing ownership across key functions and evolve into a senior leadership role within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the CEO as a thought partner and execution lead
  • Own prioritization systems, internal workflows, and execution cadence
  • Act as a decision filter and operator across multiple workstreams
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives across operations, recruiting, product, and growth
  • Build high-quality materials including internal documents, external positioning, decks, and written communications
  • Manage and triage inbound communication, ensuring efficient follow-through and response
  • Identify gaps across the organization and independently implement solutions
  • Support hiring efforts, candidate experience, and early team-building initiatives
  • Establish systems and processes that improve speed, clarity, and accountability

Qualifications

✅ You might be a fit if you:

  • Have experience in operations, consulting, product, or a similarly analytical and execution-focused role
  • Demonstrate strong judgment and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely
  • Thrive in fast-paced, unstructured environments and are comfortable with ambiguity
  • Show high levels of ownership, initiative, and resourcefulness
  • Are able to operate both strategically and tactically depending on the needs of the business
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate closely with senior leadership

❌ This role may not be a fit if you:

  • Prefer clearly defined responsibilities and structured environments
  • Are uncomfortable making decisions without complete information
  • Prefer a narrow scope of work rather than broad, evolving responsibilities
  • Are not comfortable operating at a fast pace with shifting priorities
  • Prefer a traditional 9-to-5 work structure

What they Offer:

  • Competitive base compensation with meaningful equity participation
  • Opportunity to join at an early stage and shape the direction of the company
  • High level of ownership and direct exposure to executive decision-making
  • Clear path toward expanded leadership responsibility as the company scales
  • Mission-driven work addressing a significant and underserved healthcare problem
