Beyond Talent are delighted to be supporting an established and highly respected independent education group in North Yorkshire with the recruitment of a Accounts Assistant to join their friendly, collaborative finance team. The Role
As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of finance operations across the school and wider estate. This is a varied position where accuracy, proactive communication, and strong organisational skills are essential.
You will be responsible for:
- Reconciliations, journal processing, and supporting financial reporting
- Processing intercompany transactions
- Monitoring budget spends and reporting to budget holders
- Preparing invoices, fee plans and maintaining accurate student financial records
- Submitting payments via BACS and one‑off transactions
- Chasing overdue fees and handling queries
- Supporting purchase ledger during absence/annual leave
- Contributing to management accounts preparation
- Managing shared finance inboxes and supporting internal/external stakeholders
To be successfully considered you will bring:
- Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment
- Strong grasp of accounting principles
- Excellent Excel skills (functions & formulas)
- Knowledge of Sage is beneficial but not essential
- Confident, professional telephone manner
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong team ethic with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- AAT Level 3 or above desirable
