Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and clinically experienced Dental Administrative Assistant to support in managing day-to-day administrative and front-office tasks. This role is ideal for a former dentist or dental hygienist seeking a non-clinical career path while still utilizing their dental expertise. Your understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and patient flow will be invaluable in providing seamless and knowledgeable administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for patient communication via phone, email, or chat
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage charting in dental management systems (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental, Curve)
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and follow up on outstanding claims or balances
- Communicate with dental labs, suppliers, and other external partners as needed
- Prepare and send appointment reminders and pre-treatment instructions
- Assist with reporting tasks: daily collections, production summaries, appointment metrics
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions
Qualifications:
- Background in dentistry: Former dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant strongly preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years in dental administration or front-office role
- Experience with dental practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance billing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with remote work tools (Zoom, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.)
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
