Area Sales Manager – HVAC Rental Solutions


Precision Hire is proud to partner with a nationwide leader in temporary HVAC and power solutions to identify an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive revenue, expand market share, and elevate commercial excellence across the region. This role is built for a strategic sales leader who thrives in high-growth, high-impact environments and knows how to build, coach, and optimize a winning sales team.


Position Overview

If you are a go-getter, sales hunter and natural leader with 10+ years or sales experience in the equipment rental market, this one is for you!

We are seeking a leader from the field, not from behind a desk/office, and to engage with customers, win big deals along your direct sales report team, and lead by example.


The Area Sales Manager will collaborate closely with the Regional Leadership Team and VP of Sales to develop, implement, and execute sales strategies that accelerate revenue growth, expand market penetration, and enhance overall profitability. A major priority for this role is leading, mentoring, and elevating a regional sales team—ensuring they deliver consistent performance, maximize opportunity pipelines, and execute with discipline.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with Key and Target accounts within the assigned area.
  • Promote a strong account management culture through hands-on involvement in account retention and expansion.
  • Lead the area sales team toward achieving revenue, profit, and market share goals through disciplined sales management and CRM-driven processes.
  • Maintain a visible field presence to support sales team development, customer engagement, and deal support.


Revenue & Pipeline Management

  • Refine pricing strategies to maximize margin contribution across HVAC rental products and services.
  • Support the regional team with opportunity management, forecasting accuracy, and pipeline discipline.
  • Monitor selling expenses and ensure alignment with budget guidelines.
  • Coaching, Development & Performance Management
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one sessions with sales team members to review annual plans, pipelines, forecasts, activity levels, account strategy, and personal development goals.
  • Review weekly activity plans and coach reps on increasing productivity and sales effectiveness.
  • Implement performance improvement plans when needed and ensure accountability through documented follow-up.
  • Facilitate pre-call planning and observe sales interactions to provide structured coaching on deal strategy, customer engagement, and closing techniques.
  • Market Engagement & Industry Positioning
  • Participate in regional and local industry associations (BOMA, MCA, AGC, etc.) and identify strategic membership or sponsorship opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, competitive activity, and customer shifts.
  • Build and maintain industry relationships to strengthen competitive intelligence and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Branch Operations and Sales Administration to ensure optimal service levels, efficient resource utilization, and cost-effective support for the sales organization.
  • Promote strong communication between sales, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction by ensuring reliable processes and action plans for top accounts.


Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of sales and sales management experience in industrial products or services, ideally within the HVAC rental or temporary HVAC/power sector.
  • Strong command of structured sales processes, CRM utilization, pipeline discipline, and forecasting.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop sales professionals across varying experience levels.
  • Strong communication and negotiation capabilities with a track record of engaging multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to leverage data, market trends, and financial insights to shape long-term sales plans.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred (not required).
  • Ability to travel 50–70% depending on business needs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
