General Manager – Power Generation Rental Division - Houston, TX

Precision Hire is conducting a confidential search for a high-impact General Manager to lead and scale a rapidly growing Power Generation Rental Division in the Texas and Gulf Coast market.


This is a full P&L leadership role overseeing one of the most capital-intensive and strategically important divisions within a founder-led, entrepreneurial organization. With significant megawatt assets deployed and historic demand across industrial, storm response, data center, and critical infrastructure markets, this division is positioned for disciplined expansion.

The Opportunity


The General Manager owns:

  • Full monthly P&L responsibility
  • Revenue growth and gross margin expansion
  • Fleet utilization and capital allocation strategy
  • Rental Sales and Rental Service team leadership
  • Accounts receivable performance and DSO control
  • Strategic fleet planning and asset lifecycle management

This role operates at the intersection of sales, operations, finance, and executive leadership. The mandate is clear: drive profitable growth while maintaining operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Line of Business Ownership

  • Own and present monthly rental P&L
  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action
  • Approve rental-related expenditures with disciplined cost control


Revenue & Utilization Leadership

  • Lead and hold Rental Sales accountable for growth targets
  • Establish pricing guardrails and margin discipline
  • Maximize owned fleet utilization
  • Strategically manage re-rent relationships and economics


Capital & Fleet Strategy

  • Oversee CAPEX planning and deployment
  • Evaluate refurbish vs. replace decisions
  • Align fleet investments with commercial growth strategy
  • Provide direction on maintenance priorities and asset lifecycle planning


Accounts Receivable Discipline

  • Partner with finance weekly to manage collections
  • Reduce DSO and manage credit exposure
  • Personally engage in escalated or high-risk accounts


Leadership & Talent Development

  • Directly lead Sales and Rental Service leadership
  • Set measurable KPIs for revenue, margin, readiness, and safety
  • Drive hiring, coaching, succession planning
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and teamwork


Business Development & Market Visibility

  • Leverage existing network across Texas and Gulf markets
  • Promote rental capabilities and major deployments
  • Strengthen long-term strategic customer relationships
  • Support brand presence through professional engagement


Ideal Background

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership in:
  • Power generation rental
  • Equipment rental
  • Heavy industrial services
  • Capital-intensive service businesses
  • Strong Gulf Coast / Texas market network
  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet utilization and CAPEX strategy
  • Proven ability to grow margins and improve operational efficiency
  • Comfort operating in high-pressure, storm-response environments
  • Strong financial acumen and executive communication presence
