About the Opportunity


Our client is a well-established manufacturer of architectural metal roofing and wall panel systems is seeking a Director of Engineering & Technical Services to lead its technical department. This is a senior leadership role with direct impact on revenue, product integrity, and market presence.

Role Overview


The Director of Engineering & Technical Services is responsible for leading all technical department activities in support of the company's sales and profitability goals. This individual will serve as the organization's foremost technical resource — internally and externally — while managing a team of technical professionals and driving continuous improvement across systems, certifications, software, and customer support.


Key Responsibilities

🔹 Lead, manage, and develop the Technical Services team including hiring recommendations and performance oversight

🔹 Provide engineered solutions for complex project conditions, including preliminary design, fastener spacing, scope clarification, and proposal qualification

🔹 Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, architects, and field personnel on topics including engineering, sustainability, LEED, energy codes, detailing, and watertight warranty requirements

🔹 Review architectural drawings and specifications for structural and technical conflicts on warranty projects and as otherwise requested

🔹 Drive enhancement and development of design software tools to improve productivity and accuracy across the technical team

🔹 Manage and maintain all product certifications including Florida Product Approvals, Miami-Dade NOAs, TDI listings, and ICC reports

🔹 Oversee the distribution, training, and continuous improvement of AIA Continuing Education courses and presentations

🔹 Maintain and update all technical documents, specifications, and website offerings including Masterspec integration

🔹 Manage the ANSI-SPRI NRCA program including applicant review and technical inquiries

🔹 Maintain and optimize architectural software programs and website tools used by specifiers and design professionals

🔹 Support strategic planning initiatives to expand and strengthen the company's technical presence in the marketplace

🔹 Research and recommend testing programs and product initiatives that expand the company's offerings and market reach



Minimum Qualifications


✅ Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) — required

✅ Prior experience in architectural metal cladding — required

✅ Strong working knowledge of building codes, energy standards, and sustainability frameworks (LEED, Florida Product Approval process, etc.)

✅ Experience managing technical teams and cross-functional collaboration with sales, marketing, and operations

✅ Proficiency with engineering design software and comfort evaluating or developing new tools

✅ Excellent communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to translate complex technical content for both technical and non-technical audiences
