Drafting Manager and Warranty Administration

Our client, a respected leader in the architectural metal wall panels, roofing and cladding industry, is seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Drafting Manager who can also review, approve, and, as needed, modify warranties. This dual-role position combines leadership in drafting and technical drawing review with oversight of metal system performance and watertightness warranty administration.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in standing seam metal roofing and metal wall systems with the ability to manage drawing production, coach technical staff, direct field inspections, and administer warranty processes. Key Responsibilities:

Drafting Leadership:

• Manage and mentor a team of drafters responsible for developing installation shop drawings for metal roofing and wall panel systems.
• Oversee drawing quality, architectural compliance, system accuracy, and alignment with product and warranty standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external project stakeholders (architects, contractors, engineers) to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Develop and implement drafting processes, improve CAD standards, and ensure consistency across all deliverables.
• Coordinate drawing schedules with project timelines and drafting team workload.
• Support technical development of team members, providing ongoing training and performance reviews.

Watertightness Warranty Management:

• Review architectural drawings and specifications to determine warranty eligibility and proper product application.
• Assist in quoting warranty fees, shop drawings, field inspections, and drawing revisions.
• Direct field inspection teams to ensure that installations meet warranty and quality standards.
• Administer closeout procedures for warranty-covered projects including document execution and compliance verification.
• Investigate and resolve warranty claims related to watertightness, including leak issues and corrective measures.
• Conduct risk assessments for warranty coverage and provide mitigation strategies.
• Lead client-facing seminars focusing on installation practices and watertightness warranty education.
• Partner with technical and sales departments on product application guidance and warranty inquiries.
• Remain up to date on industry regulations, technical installation standards, and construction best practices.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding and experience with architectural metal cladding systems, especially standing seam metal roofing, soffit, and wall panels.
• Previous experience in a technical drafting management, warranty administration, or construction services leadership role.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
• Expertise in producing and reviewing construction drawings and custom installation details using AutoCAD.
• Solid knowledge of proper element tie-ins, flashing details, slopes, and waterproofing considerations for metal cladding systems.
• Experience with portable roll-forming equipment and field-installation methods is a plus.
• Proactive leader and self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities across departments.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and BIM-related tools (e.g., BIMsmith) highly preferred.
