Plant IT Support Specialist


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide second- and third-level desktop support for PC/LAN, laptops, and workstations for end-users, including senior management and plant operators.
  • Act as the primary onsite IT support resource for communications, coordination, projects, and client relations.
  • Ensure compliance with Plant and OSHA safety guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain familiarity with plant outage procedures, alerts, emergencies, and overall plant operations.
  • Update, monitor, and manage the ticketing system.
  • Prepare routine reports on issues and provide recommendations to management.
  • Utilize technical and procedural documentation for Help Desk, desktop/laptop configuration standards, and installation procedures.
  • Configure and deploy new desktop and laptop systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and printing issues.
  • Support IT-related projects, including office moves and special onsite IT initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support meetings and video conferencing needs.
  • Partner with site administrators to address site-specific IT requirements.
  • Provide hardware and software to users as approved, manage asset tagging, and maintain inventory.
  • Install, configure, relocate, and decommission PC equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical teams to resolve office projects, upgrades, and vendor issues.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
  • Travel regularly to plant sites (primarily within the area, but occasional travel to other sites required).
  • Work overtime and occasional weekend shifts as needed.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency with computer hardware devices (Dell, Lenovo, network printers).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11.
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office 365, Cisco AnyConnect VPN, MS Outlook/Exchange, and MS Teams.
  • Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCSE) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support client interactions.
  • Experience with remote control tools and Intune (MEM) computer enrollment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Occasional lifting required to perform job duties.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced office environment with frequent collaboration on multiple projects.
  • May work with other team members across different tasks simultaneously.
