Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Power BI Architect to serve as the enterprise expert for Power BI architecture, governance, security, and performance. This role is hands‑on and strategic — owning Power BI standards, guiding delivery teams, and ensuring scalable, secure, and well‑governed BI solutions across the organization.
This person will act as an architect, mentor, and BI leader, helping mature the organization’s Power BI and Microsoft Fabric capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Power BI Architecture & Design
- Design and maintain enterprise‑scale Power BI solutions (semantic models, datasets, workspace architecture).
- Define standards for Direct Lake, DirectQuery, and Import usage.
- Establish best practices for data modeling, naming conventions, and optimization.
- Create reusable templates and architectural patterns.
Governance & Center of Excellence (CoE)
- Own Power BI governance framework, including:
- Workspace strategy & taxonomy
- Dataset certification standards
- ALM and version control practices
- Lead or support a BI Center of Excellence.
- Document and promote best practices through playbooks and training.
Deployment, Automation & DevOps
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using:
- Power BI / Fabric Deployment Pipelines
- Azure DevOps or GitHub
- Standardize dev → test → prod release processes.
- Promote Git‑enabled development and version control.
Security, Compliance & Data Protection
- Design and enforce Power BI security including:
- Row‑Level Security (RLS)
- Object‑Level Security (OLS)
- Sensitivity labels and DLP
- Align access and security with enterprise IAM and compliance standards.
- Conduct audits of workspace access and publishing practices.
Performance & Monitoring
- Monitor and optimize:
- Dataset refresh and query performance
- Gateway health
- Capacity usage and cost
- Tune DAX and data models.
- Build usage and adoption dashboards.
Leadership & Enablement
- Mentor BI developers on data modeling, DAX, and visualization standards.
- Conduct architectural and code reviews.
- Partner with data engineering, cloud, security, and business teams.
Strategy & Roadmap
- Define the Power BI / Microsoft Fabric roadmap.
- Evaluate new features and drive enterprise adoption.
- Advise on licensing, capacity planning, and tooling strategy.
Required Qualifications (Must‑Have)

7+ years of Power BI experience, including enterprise‑level implementations
- Strong expertise in:
- DAX
- Data modeling
- Power Query / M
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Power BI Deployment Pipelines
- Azure DevOps or GitHub (CI/CD)
- Solid understanding of:
- Microsoft Fabric
- Azure Synapse / modern data architectures
- Experience with enterprise security, governance, and compliance
- Proven ability to mentor and lead BI teams
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
- Experience with Databricks, Lakehouse architectures, or Delta tables
- Microsoft Power BI certification (or similar)
- Experience standing up or running a BI Center of Excellence
- Background in large, complex enterprise analytics environments
