Director, General Manager
Gulf South Region Location: Saint Rose, LA (On-site)
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full P&L leadership role for one of the largest branches in the division, overseeing approximately $30-35M in annual revenue across multiple lines of business. The position carries responsibility for a multi-site territory that includes two satellite operating yards in the region in addition to the primary branch location. The Director, General Manager reports to the SVP, General Manager and operates as part of the regional leadership team.
This is an on-site role. Occasional travel to division meetings approximately once per quarter.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Full P&L ownership for a multi-site region, with direct accountability for revenue, EBITDA, and profitability targets
- Commercial leadership across all business lines within the region, including developing and executing growth strategies to increase market penetration
- Field sales team management, including performance management, coaching, and productivity programs to hit plan objectives
- Branch operations oversight, including fleet maintenance, direct labor, materials planning, and safety compliance
- Transportation and logistics operations, including field service management and ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of services
- Local customer service operations, including driving process improvements to improve customer satisfaction and net promoter scores
- People leadership across all functions, with direct responsibility for employee engagement and developing a leadership pipeline for general management roles
- Providing divisional and corporate leadership with timely market intelligence, competitive insights, and operational reporting to inform commercial strategy
- Supporting ongoing business functions including planning, forecasting, national account management, regulatory and compliance matters, and implementation of operational best practices
WHO FITS THIS ROLE
Candidates with a track record of running large, complex field operations will be most competitive. Given the size of the territory and team, experience managing 80 or more direct and indirect reports in a branch-based or decentralized operating environment is strongly preferred. The strongest candidates will be equally comfortable leading a sales conversation as they are managing operational execution - this is not a desk role, and candidates who prefer a centralized management style will not be a good fit.
