Reports To: Accounts Payable Manager (UK-based)


Location: Rosebank, Johannesburg Office

We are currently seeking a well‑spoken, detail‑oriented, and proactive Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team. This is a high‑energy role suited to someone who thrives under pressure, can manage multiple responsibilities, and is committed to delivering excellence — not simply ticking boxes.

Note: This is not a “clock‑watcher” position — we need someone flexible and available when the business requires support, not only during core office hours.


Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the AP Manager to support all accounts payable and administrative activities.

• Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring correct coding and approvals.

• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Prepare payment batches and ensure compliance with internal controls and approval workflows.

• Maintain clear and organised digital records of invoices, payments, and supporting documentation.

• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams (procurement, operations, finance) to resolve invoice or payment queries.

• Produce Excel‑based reconciliations, reports, and analysis as required.

• Assist with month‑end processes, including accruals and outstanding payables reports.

• Manage ad hoc administrative tasks to support the finance department.


Skills and Attributes Required

• Excellent Communication: Fluent spoken and written English. Must be confident, clear, and professional.

• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in processing financial data, reviewing invoices, and resolving discrepancies.

• Strong Excel Skills: Proficiency in Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and general data manipulation is essential.

• Ability to Work Under Pressure: Handles multiple deadlines and competing priorities without compromising quality.

• Self‑Starter: Takes initiative and ownership of tasks from start to finish.

• Flexible & Reliable: Willing to work outside traditional hours when needed; understands the urgency of financial processes.

• Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting to shifting priorities, supplier demands, and cross‑team requirements.

• Tech‑Savvy: Confident using accounting systems (e.g., Business Central) and the full Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ethical & Professional: Maintains confidentiality, integrity, and accuracy in all financial processes.

• Growth Mindset: Encouraged to think critically, solve problems, and continually improve processes.
