POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in the success of our business. As a trusted advisor to managers and employees, this role provides HR support in the areas of employee development, positive employee relations, talent acquisition, and HR/Talent systems.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Employee Development:
- Works closely with managers and employees to develop and support employee development plans.
- Designs and implements employee learning and development programs that provide growth opportunities for employees.
Employee Relations:
- Provides guidance to leaders in all areas of employee relations.
- Mediates and facilitates discussion to resolve conflict in the workplace.
- Conducts stay interviews, tracks and reports trends, and creates appropriate plans based on feedback.
- Conducts exit interviews, tracks and reports trends, and identifies potential areas for improvement.
- Plans and coordinates employee events, such as the service award program.
Talent Acquisition:
- Collaborates with managers to create and update success profiles and job descriptions.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, including liaising with external recruiting partners.
- Assists HR and Marketing teams with employer branding and engagement.
- Conducts new hire orientation meetings and strives to continuously improve the onboarding process.
- Manages the Co-Op program and career fairs.
- Manages applicant tracking system.
HR and Talent Systems:
- Acts as HRIS/HCM specialist.
- Assists with selection and implementation of HR and talent systems.
- Collaborates with HR team and leaders to identify, create, and implement talent processes within HR and talent systems.
- Creates and conducts system training for all users.
- Creates and reports meaningful metrics to ensure effective utilization of HR and talent systems.
HR Operations:
- Provides day-to-day HR support to managers and employees.
- Maintains personnel and medical records files.
- Inputs data into HRIS and generates required reports.
- Reviews HR policies and procedures for relevance and recommends updates.
- Generates and publishes HR metrics to leadership team.
- Provides support and acts as backup to the HR team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience in human resources
- Strong employee advocate mindset
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of current employment laws
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/HCM platforms
- Occasional travel to other company locations
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
- HR certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP)
- Experience with CMiC ERP system
- Some knowledge of labor relations and union support
- Experience supporting multiple sites
- HR experience within the construction industry
