The Village of Roselle, Illinois, is seeking a full-time Public Works Wastewater Manager to join our forward-thinking Public Works Department.

As our new Wastewater Manager, you'll be at the forefront of these transformative initiatives, working alongside consulting engineers to manage multimillion-dollar capital improvements while ensuring continued operational excellence. This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on critical infrastructure that will serve our community for generations.


The Opportunity

As the Public Works Wastewater Manager, you'll lead a 9-person wastewater division, collaborating closely with two peer-level Public Works Managers and reporting to the Director of Public Works. You'll step in as Acting Director when needed and be responsible for key leadership tasks, including:


Operational Leadership: Direct wastewater treatment operations, ensuring EPA and Illinois EPA compliance while overseeing treatment facilities, collection systems, lift stations, and laboratory testing.


Team Development: Lead and mentor a unionized team including foreman, leads, operators, and laboratory technician through training, performance management, and career development.


Strategic Management: Contribute to budget development, collective bargaining, capital improvement planning, and execution of the Village's Strategic Plan.


Project Leadership: Manage contracts, vendors, and consulting engineers for major infrastructure projects and facility improvements.


Safety & Compliance: Ensure OSHA compliance, regulatory reporting requirements, and emergency response readiness across all operations.


What We’re Looking For

  • Valid Illinois Drivers License
  • Minimum of a Class 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certification at time of application with the ability to obtain a Class 1 Certificate within 12 months of employment.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in wastewater operations, public works, or a similar field
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, civil engineering, construction management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A passion for leadership and a commitment to serving our community
