Salary: $109,000 to $169,000


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the planning, design, and project/construction management of electrical and controls systems for water facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects while applying your expertise in the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical construction, and motor control center design.

You’ll work on a wide range of electrical distribution and controls engineering projects, from planning and design through construction and commissioning. You’ll collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring safe and reliable electrical systems.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications for electrical design of above- and below-ground water system facilities.
  • Perform advanced engineering calculations for low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control, including:
  • Short circuit current calculations
  • Arc Flash studies
  • Voltage drop calculations
  • Breaker coordination studies
  • Prepare construction contracts, solicit and evaluate bids, and award contracts.
  • Specify, develop bid packages, and procure major electrical equipment.
  • Prepare RFPs and evaluate/select consultants or vendors.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets effectively.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, agencies, and internal teams.
  • Prepare data tables, graphs, cost estimates, justifications, and technical reports.
  • Interpret and review engineering construction reports and drawings.
  • Publish project-related documents for distribution to communities and government agencies.
  • Use company financial systems to monitor and control project costs.
  • Contribute to PUC rate case filings with cost estimates and project justifications.
  • Support preparation of the annual capital budget.
  • Provide construction management and shared field inspections at project sites.
  • Deliver technical support for system operations and maintenance.
  • Present project details to public agencies, special districts, and community groups.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Water, wastewater, or related process‑industry experience.
  • Experience with electrical construction best practices, motor control center design, and consultant/contractor coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and AutoCAD.
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid California Driver License/ability to obtain valid California Driver License.
  • Experience with planning, budgeting, and regulatory documentation is a plus.
