Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer
Location: Sacramento, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-5:30 PM
Compensation: $75,000 base salary with gross-profit bonus potential. Top performers can realistically earn $100,000+ total compensation through a 2%-3% gross profit bonus structure.

AutoShop Recruiting is partnered with a long-established independent automotive repair shop in Sacramento, CA, to hire an Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer. This is a strong opportunity for an advisor who knows how to build trust, control workflow, communicate clearly, and help a proven shop continue delivering high-quality repair experiences.
This shop has been serving Sacramento since 1927. The shop has steady workflow, experienced leadership, strong technician talent, and a culture built around accountability, training, and doing the job right. This is not a chaotic counter role. The right advisor will be organized, process-driven, customer-focused, and comfortable working closely with technicians in a professional independent-shop environment.
What You'll Do
As a Service Advisor, you will:
- Greet customers, listen carefully, and build trust from the first conversation
- Write repair orders, document concerns, and keep vehicle workflow organized in Tekmetric
- Communicate technician findings clearly and professionally to customers
- Present estimates, explain value, and sell needed repair and maintenance work with integrity
- Manage customer updates, approvals, follow-up, and promised completion timelines
- Work closely with diagnostic technicians and R&R technicians to keep jobs moving
- Support strong gross profit, average repair order, billed-hour, and customer-retention performance
- Help maintain a professional, accountable, team-first shop culture
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a service advisor who can combine customer care, sales discipline, and shop-floor communication:
- Experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Service Consultant, or Service Manager
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain repairs without pressure or confusion
- Comfortable presenting estimates, overcoming objections, and closing approved work
- Organized enough to manage repair orders, customer updates, technician notes, and workflow details
- High accountability, maturity, and professionalism
- Team-first attitude and the ability to work well with technicians and leadership
- Tekmetric experience is a plus; strong DVI/shop-management-system experience is also valuable
- Valid driver's license
Shop Environment
- Established independent repair shop serving Sacramento since 1927
- Monday-Friday schedule with no weekend shop hours listed
- Six two-post lifts, one alignment rack, and one four-post lift
- Tekmetric shop management system
- Strong diagnostic capability, steady workflow, and leadership willing to invest in needed tools
- All-makes/all-models environment with a strong domestic and Asian/import mix
- Training-focused culture with clear expectations and a professional team environment
Compensation & Benefits
- $75,000 base salary
- 2%-3% gross profit bonus opportunity
