This is a premier opportunity for an experienced tax leader with a strong background in oil & gas taxation, particularly within upstream (E&P) partnerships, to step into a strategic advisory role with top-tier energy clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage tax compliance and advisory engagements for oil & gas clients, with an emphasis on upstream partnerships.
- Provide subject matter expertise on complex issues including IDC, tax depletion, depreciation, and E&P-specific deductions.
- Oversee all phases of client engagements—planning, execution, and final delivery—while ensuring quality and budget adherence.
- Advise clients on tax strategies related to transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and entity restructuring.
- Research and interpret changes in federal and state tax laws affecting the energy sector, advising clients proactively.
- Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to deliver integrated, strategic client solutions.
- Mentor and lead tax staff, fostering professional development and technical growth.
- Review and prepare income tax provisions and documentation for uncertain tax positions (ASC 740).
- Represent clients in federal and state tax audits, managing negotiations and risk mitigation.
- Participate in firm initiatives including recruiting, training, and culture development.
Qualifications:
Required:
- CPA certification (or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in public accounting with a strong focus on tax compliance and advisory services.
- Proven expertise in U.S. tax rules applicable to oil & gas clients.
- Strong technical skills in US GAAP and tax compliance software.
- Demonstrated success managing client relationships and leading tax teams.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master of Taxation, MBA).
- Proficiency in GoSystems, BNA Income Tax Planner, Checkpoint, or similar platforms.
- Extensive experience with tax filings for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, and C-corps.
- Strong research, writing, presentation, and client communication skills.
