Job Title: Build Engineer, Production Technology (Contract)
Location: HYBRID - 3x/ week: Redmond, WA
Rate: $71-$73/ hour
Duration: Through 10/20/2026 - possible chance for extension based on budget and performance
This role supports our client's gaming Technology team, which builds and maintains shared infrastructure and middleware that enables development across multiple game titles. The Build Engineer will contribute to execution, stabilization, and performance improvement of CI/CD systems and development pipelines. This is a hands‑on implementation role focused on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence rather than system ownership or architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Build Systems Execution
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and build configurations supporting large‑scale game development
- Debug and resolve build failures, breakages, and inconsistencies
- Optimize build performance through caching, parallelization, and configuration improvements
- Support branching, merging, and release workflows across multiple development schedules
Pipeline and Tooling Support
- Implement and maintain asset and data pipelines
- Support tools used by engineering, art, and design teams
- Troubleshoot pipeline and tooling issues that impact developer productivity
Stability and Reliability
- Monitor build health and improve reliability and success rates
- Identify and remediate systemic build and pipeline issues
- Improve logging, diagnostics, and debuggability across build systems
Collaboration
- Work closely with full‑time engineers, DevOps partners, and the Technical Architect
- Execute against clearly defined tasks and priorities within backlog and production systems
- Provide clear and consistent updates on progress, risks, and blockers
Contractor performance will be evaluated based on:
- Quality of technical contributions as demonstrated through code reviews and peer feedback
- Ability to meet delivery commitments using backlog and production tracking systems
- Collaboration effectiveness and alignment with team workflows and culture

Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
Experience
- Hands‑on experience supporting CI/CD pipelines for large‑scale software or game development environments
- Experience working with scalable infrastructure systems in enterprise or game development contexts
- Experience collaborating with distributed teams and supporting external partners remotely
Core Technical Skills
- CI/CD systems and build automation
- Scalable infrastructure and build environments
- Strong programming and scripting skills with C# and PowerShell
- General scripting and automation experience
- Build performance optimization and troubleshooting
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment within the Puget Sound region
- Strong execution focus with the ability to operate within established systems and processes
- Clear communication skills for cross‑team and cross‑studio collaboration
Assessment Process
- Initial take‑home technical assignment
- Two subsequent hard skills assessment interviews, each approximately 45 minutes
