BACKGROUND 

The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as McLendon Fellows - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Fellows on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.


SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President for Marketing & Brand Strategy, the Marketing & Digital Strategy Fellow is responsible for executing comprehensive marketing, ticket sales, and fan engagement strategies for ACC Olympic sports and championship events. Duties include managing digital marketing initiatives, overseeing fan research and email marketing efforts, coordinating sponsor activations, and serving as the primary marketing liaison for assigned sports while collaborating with internal teams, agencies, and external vendors. The candidate should enjoy working and collaborating with others daily and thrive in a fast-paced forward-thinking environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist the Vice President, Marketing & Brand Strategy, in achieving the annual goals of the Marketing department.
  • Develop, manage and execute comprehensive ticket sales marketing plans for assigned Olympic sports and events. Work with ad agencies and vendors to purchase media and develop ad creative across multiple platforms.
  • Assist in the development of fan engagement strategy for all ACC Championship events. Includes run of show, PA script, in-arena entertainment, video board graphics, music playlists, sponsor activations, mascot appearances and fan contests. Attend assigned events to manage on-site implementation.
  • Work directly with championship administrators as primary marketing liaison for assigned Olympic sports.
  • Oversee the ACC email database and develop strategies to build and utilize the list for messaging, ticket sales efforts and other business objectives
  • Assist in the development and execution of digital marketing strategies to enhance the ACC brand, increase fan engagement, and promote conference championships and member institutions.
  • Assist with the annual ACC Championship fan research plan and work with outside parties to implement the plan
  • Assist in the implementation of sponsor activations at ACC Championships and across ACC platforms.
  • Work with ACC staff or third-party vendors to oversee the production of video board content at assigned Olympic sports.
  • Contribute to leadership of all interns and championship volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Marketing & Brand Strategy
  • Must adhere to NCAA and ACC rules and regulations.


MISCELLANEOUS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience working with marketing and game presentation
  • Proficiency writing gameday scripts
  • Effective and flexible communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings and travel to select championships and events
