BACKGROUND


The University of Cincinnati athletics department has partnered with the McLendon Foundation and their Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI). The purpose of the initiative is to provide minorities a jump-start to their careers in intercollegiate athletics through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network and instilling the values of John McLendon:  Integrity, Education, Leadership and Mentorship. The new program is designed to create access and opportunity for meaningful employment experience for minority candidates, known as MLI Future Leaders and enhancing their career options.

 

SUMMARY

 

The position will work as a valuable member of our Sales & Service team, which is responsible for managing season tickets, mini plans, group tickets, as well as premium hospitality. The position will be a member of the External Relations Team.

 

They will serve as a core contributor to all our outreach efforts, and develop the skills necessary to be part of an external relations team. The intern also will have the opportunity to engage with staff in a wide variety of events, activities, and projects throughout the athletic department. Through this collaboration, they will gain valuable insight into how each unit contributes to the overall success of our athletics department.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


The McClendon Future Leader will be assigned to the Associate AD for sales and service, responsible for all sales and services (tickets) for the athletics department. Some of the duties assigned will include the following but will not be limited to these areas:


  • Utilize data for prospecting, generating leads, and gathering referrals.
  • Conduct calls to local organizations, businesses, and fans regarding ticket packages and opportunities. 
  • Upsell and cross sell inbound opportunities while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate and assist account executives with sales strategy and execution.
  • Assist with the execution of game day duties relating to group sales themes, season ticket member events, and premium hospitality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED   

  • Bachelor’s Degree
