Job Summary
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Front-End Engineer to support the modernization of a large-scale, design-driven web platform. The ideal candidate will help transition a legacy Gatsby codebase within a Yarn monorepo into Astro, while improving content architecture, site performance, accessibility, and overall scalability. This role requires exceptional attention to visual detail, strong front-end engineering expertise, and an enthusiasm for integrating emerging technologies such as LLMs and MCPs into both development workflows and content experiences.
The selected engineer will collaborate closely with a small, fast-moving team focused on building innovative, high-performance web experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Rewrite legacy Gatsby components and functionality into Astro within a Yarn monorepo environment.
- Improve and modernize the content architecture across multiple content sources (MDX with frontmatter, Contentful, hardcoded content).
- Enhance site performance, SEO, WCAG accessibility, and LLM readability.
- Implement advanced, design-forward UI interactions using modern CSS, SCSS, animations, and tools such as Rive and Lottie.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to maintain extremely high standards for visual and interaction design.
- Integrate marketing operations tools and APIs (e.g., Marketo, Inflection, Ashby).
- Work with developer tooling such as GitHub Actions, Playwright, Vercel, and observability tools.
- Support experimentation and integration with LLMs, MCPs, analytics tools, and emerging front-end technologies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of front-end architecture, deployment processes, and code quality.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and CSS/SCSS.
- Intermediate experience with:
- Astro
- React
- Gatsby
- TailwindCSS
- Emotion
- Experience working within monorepo environments (e.g., Yarn workspaces).
- Strong understanding of front-end performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex UI/UX designs into highly polished, production-quality interfaces.
- Experience ensuring WCAG compliance and using accessibility tools.
- Familiarity with Lottie/Rive animation workflows.
- Strong Git/GitHub workflow knowledge, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Next.js.
- Familiarity with MDX, frontmatter standards, and headless CMS workflows (e.g., Contentful).
- Experience integrating or building tools using LLMs and MCPs.
- Experience with analytics integrations (e.g., Plausible).
- Exposure to design collaboration tools such as Figma and related MCP workflows.
- Background working in agile environments using tools like JIRA.
