Director of Corporate FP&A

Location: Denver, CO

Compensation: $190,000 - $230,000 + performance incentives + full benefits

About the Role

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, multibillion-dollar construction and industrial services organization seeking a strategic Director of Corporate FP&A to play a critical role in enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and executive decision support.

This organization is experiencing significant growth through strategic acquisitions and organic expansion, with annual revenue approaching $2.7 billion and projected pro forma revenue exceeding $4 billion next year. As the business scales, corporate finance is evolving to provide greater financial visibility, forecasting precision, and consistency across an increasingly complex national platform.

This is not a traditional reporting-focused FP&A role, nor is it embedded within regional operations. This leader will sit at the corporate level, developing a consolidated financial view across the entire enterprise, integrating financial and operational data, and translating complex business performance into actionable insights for senior leadership.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in project-based financial environments, sophisticated three-statement modeling capabilities, and the ability to connect revenue recognition, project performance, working capital, and cash flow. This individual must be equally comfortable digging into the general ledger and presenting strategic financial insights to executive leadership.

What You'll Do

Strategic Finance Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to corporate finance leadership, providing enterprise-wide insights that support financial strategy, capital planning, and executive decision-making
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of financial performance across business units, acquisitions, and corporate functions
  • Translate complex financial trends, risks, and performance indicators into actionable recommendations for senior leadership
  • Support executive leadership, ownership stakeholders, and Board-level financial discussions through sophisticated analysis and forward-looking insights
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and enterprise-wide performance visibility

Forecasting, Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Lead consolidated financial planning activities including monthly forecasting, quarterly outlooks, annual budgeting, and long-range financial planning
  • Develop and maintain integrated three-statement financial models incorporating income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow projections
  • Consolidate financial forecasts across business units, incorporating project performance, revenue trends, operating expenses, working capital, and capital requirements
  • Build scenario models and sensitivity analyses to evaluate business performance, liquidity requirements, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Partner with regional finance teams to validate forecasting assumptions while maintaining ownership of the consolidated corporate financial view
  • Strengthen forecasting methodologies and processes to improve accuracy, consistency, and accountability across the organization

Enterprise Financial & Performance Analytics

  • Lead consolidated financial analysis across revenue, gross profit, SG&A, EBITDA, working capital, and cash flow
  • Analyze project-based financial performance, including revenue recognition, work-in-progress, backlog, and job-level profitability trends
  • Evaluate ASC 606 revenue recognition impacts, including billings in excess of costs and costs in excess of billings, and their implications for financial statements and cash flow
  • Perform detailed variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and historical results to identify underlying performance drivers
  • Analyze the relationship between project execution, revenue recognition, working capital movements, and enterprise liquidity
  • Partner with accounting and operational finance teams to investigate general ledger activity, validate financial assumptions, and improve reporting accuracy

Corporate Reporting & Financial Visibility

  • Prepare and analyze consolidated monthly and quarterly financial results, including interim income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Develop executive-level financial reporting packages, performance narratives, and Board materials that clearly communicate business results and forward-looking trends
  • Support lender reporting, leverage calculations, covenant analysis, and adjusted EBITDA reporting in partnership with corporate finance leadership
  • Integrate financial information across multiple business units, reporting structures, and financial systems
  • Establish consistent financial reporting frameworks that strengthen visibility into enterprise performance
  • Drive improvements in reporting processes, financial data integrity, and analytical capabilities as the organization continues to scale

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

  • Develop and maintain consolidated cash flow forecasts and liquidity projections across the enterprise
  • Analyze working capital drivers including accounts receivable, accounts payable, project billings, contract assets and liabilities, and cash conversion
  • Evaluate the impact of project timing, revenue recognition, and operational performance on enterprise cash generation
  • Support leverage forecasting, debt covenant monitoring, and other corporate financial obligations
  • Identify opportunities to improve cash forecasting accuracy and strengthen visibility into future liquidity requirements

Financial Integration & Process Improvement

  • Support the financial integration of acquired businesses, including consolidation of financial information across multiple systems and reporting structures
  • Partner with accounting, integration, and finance teams to standardize financial reporting, forecasting methodologies, and key performance metrics
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial models, planning processes, and reporting infrastructure
  • Help establish scalable corporate FP&A processes capable of supporting a significantly larger and more complex enterprise
  • Collaborate with existing finance resources across job-level variance analysis, cash forecasting, and SG&A planning, with opportunities to expand leadership responsibilities as the organization grows

Ad Hoc Analysis & Strategic Support

  • Lead complex financial analyses supporting executive leadership, strategic planning, and corporate decision-making
  • Develop financial models supporting acquisition integration, investment analysis, business cases, and enterprise growth initiatives
  • Evaluate financial risks, operating trends, and emerging business opportunities through scenario planning and sensitivity analysis
  • Provide analytical support for lender, investor, and ownership-related financial discussions as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or financial leadership within complex, multi-entity organizations
  • Strong experience in construction, engineering, industrial services, EPC, or similarly project-based environments
  • Deep understanding of project-based accounting, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, work-in-progress accounting, billings in excess, costs in excess, and their impact on cash flow
  • Advanced three-statement financial modeling capabilities, with demonstrated experience forecasting the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Proven ability to consolidate financial performance across multiple business units, legal entities, and reporting structures
  • Strong accounting fluency, including the ability to investigate general ledger activity and connect operational performance to financial results
  • Experience with enterprise-level financial reporting, working capital analysis, and cash flow forecasting
  • Exposure to complex corporate finance environments, including lender reporting, debt covenants, and executive-level financial presentations
  • Proven success improving forecasting accuracy, financial reporting processes, and organizational financial visibility
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with experience navigating multiple financial systems and large data sets
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience operating in high-growth environments with significant organizational complexity, acquisitions, and evolving financial infrastructure
  • Ability to operate independently as a hands-on individual contributor while collaborating with broader finance teams and positioning for future leadership responsibilities

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
  • MBA preferred
  • CPA strongly preferred

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Highly visible corporate finance leadership role supporting a multibillion-dollar national organization
  • Direct exposure to senior executive leadership, ownership stakeholders, and enterprise-level financial decision-making
  • Opportunity to influence consolidated forecasting, cash flow strategy, and financial performance across the entire organization
  • Meaningful involvement in financial integration and the continued evolution of a rapidly expanding corporate finance function
  • Unique opportunity to combine hands-on financial analysis with sophisticated strategic planning and executive-level reporting
  • Strong runway for long-term advancement as the corporate finance organization continues to expand
