We're looking for a sharp and relationship-driven Business Development Coordinator who understands the fast-paced, time-sensitive world of produce transportation. Based in the heart of California's agricultural hub, you’ll play a critical role in identifying new produce shipping customers, nurturing strong client relationships, and helping growers, shippers, and receivers move fresh product quickly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and develop new business within the fresh produce and perishable freight sectors
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with growers, shippers, and supply chain partners
- Conduct cold and warm outreach through calls, emails, and customer visits to generate new opportunities
- Understand the complexities of temperature-controlled freight and produce seasonality to offer relevant shipping solutions
- Respond to customer inquiries and RFPs with professionalism and urgency
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to ensure accurate quoting, booking, and on-time delivery
- Track shipments and communicate proactively with customers throughout the delivery cycle
- Input all activity into CRM, manage pipeline and sales tracking, and ensure clean handoff to internal operations teams
- Meet or exceed sales goals and outreach activity quotas (calls, visits, follow-ups, etc.)
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market shifts, and produce seasons that impact customer freight needs
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, sales, or account management (produce freight preferred)
- Familiarity with refrigerated and time-sensitive shipments a strong plus
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability; must be able to prioritize and manage multiple shipments and conversations
- Comfortable using CRM tools and basic Microsoft Office applications
- Prior experience with a TMS and logistics platforms is a plus
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a deadline-driven environment
