Automation and Controls Technician

We are hiring for one of our trusted clients seeking an experienced Automation and Controls Technician with a strong technical background in PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, robotics, hardware interfacing, and industrial controls systems. This role will support multiple project teams within a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.


Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with controls programming, industrial communications, robotics integration, and troubleshooting across a variety of automation systems. Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Controls & Automation

• Develop PLC and HMI/SCADA programs using industry-standard programming languages

• Establish communication between devices and systems

• Interface with sensors, actuators, industrial robots, and collaborative robots

• Work with communication protocols including CAN, IO-Link, DH+, and EtherNet/IP

• Support hydraulic and mechanical control systems

• Apply knowledge of control theory, PID tuning, and stability analysis

• Troubleshoot and support a variety of feedback devices and controls hardware

• Identify and recommend replacements for obsolete hardware


Software & Technical Tools

• Utilize automation and electrical design software as needed

• AutoCAD Electrical experience is a plus

• EPLAN experience is a plus

• SolidWorks experience is a plus


Additional Qualifications:

• 5+ years of controls and automation experience preferred

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities

• Ability to support onsite troubleshooting and commissioning activities

• Familiarity with code compliance and industrial safety standards

• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
