Job Title: Thermal Modeler

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

Pay Range: $40–$43 per hour


Overview:

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking a Thermal Modeler to support full vehicle Aero and Thermal development. This role is responsible for building and maintaining simulation models, running CFD cases, analyzing results, and collaborating with engineering and design teams to drive optimized vehicle performance.


Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain full vehicle models for Aero and Thermal development.

• Receive inputs from lead engineers, run related STAR-CCM+ cases, summarize findings, and collaborate with design teams to drive improvements.

• Support physical testing activities, including data analysis and detailed reporting.

• Design experiments to optimize Aero and Thermal systems for current and future vehicle programs.

• Lead cross-functional efforts to develop countermeasures for performance gaps identified through simulation or physical testing.

• Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to solve complex design challenges.

• Actively contribute to and support a strong workplace safety culture.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.


Requirements:

• 3–5 years of CFD modeling experience.

• Proficiency in ANSA for part and model preparation.

• Proficiency in STAR-CCM+ (model building, case execution, result analysis, and designer feedback).

• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in automotive design or evaluation.

• Strong data analysis skills (Python, MATLAB, etc.).

• Experience negotiating design changes to meet performance targets.
