Machine Build Technician

Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan

Position Type: 3-Month Contract

Shift: 1st Shift

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00/hour

Position Summary

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Machine Build Technician with a strong electrical background to support the assembly, integration, and testing of automated equipment and robotic work cells. This role involves building complex machinery from engineering documentation, performing electrical wiring and pneumatic integration, and assisting with debug and commissioning activities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with minimal supervision, has strong troubleshooting abilities, and thrives in a fast-paced automation environment.

Please note: This is a 3-month contract position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build automated machinery and workstations from engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts
  • Perform electrical wiring, including I/O block installation and system integration
  • Install and route cable tray and electrical containment systems
  • Support equipment build, debug, and testing to ensure functionality and quality
  • Fabricate or modify components as needed during the build process
  • Interpret and work from schematics, diagrams, and verbal instructions
  • Assist in planning and assembly of complete automated cells
  • Develop and execute teardown plans for robotic cells
  • Identify issues and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Document changes and redline prints for engineering review
  • Communicate build or design issues to leadership in a timely manner
  • Support customer equipment training when required
  • Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project timelines and production goals


Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in automation equipment build or machine assembly
  • Strong background in electrical wiring and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, including layout, assembly, and debugging
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of fits, tolerances, and fabrication
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug equipment independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and take initiative


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic systems or automated cells
  • Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment
  • Prior experience in custom automation or machine build environments
