Salary: $95,000 – $105,000


Overview

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to create, document, develop, support, and improve control systems essential to our production processes. This role will be involved from project initiation through SOP +90 days (or as required) and may also support engineering changes for current production products. You will bring expertise in tooling design, automation, and process changes driven by product engineering updates.

You will be responsible for transferring all equipment and process documentation to the Production Plant before SOP, including OEM manuals, BOMs, drawings, spare parts lists, and PM recommendations. This position also involves developing RFQs, creating equipment specifications, and programming torque control systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and calculate machine performance and requirements using PLC systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and track assigned projects.
  • Develop and manage capital investment budgets.
  • Serve as the main interface with automation and capital equipment vendors.
  • Integrate and network PCs and PLCs (TCP/IP, EthernetIP).
  • Provide troubleshooting support to minimize production downtime.
  • Drive lean manufacturing concepts (5S, OEE, Kanban, Visual Factory, TPM).
  • Implement process improvements, including automation enhancements.
  • Collaborate internally and externally on controls-related communications.
  • Support Purchasing in evaluating new suppliers, products, and technologies.
  • Benchmark industry processes and equipment to enhance company standards.
  • Mentor and guide Maintenance Technicians to develop technical skillsets.


Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Programming, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Controls Engineer.
  • Experience with robots in production processes.
  • Knowledge of JIT, SPD, ILVS, and batch manufacturing systems.
  • Strong understanding of manual and automated assembly systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and FactoryTalk View Studio.
  • PLC Programming (2–4 years): Allen Bradley ControlLogix 5000 processors.
  • Vision Systems Programming (2–4 years): Cognex, Keyence.
  • HMI Programming (2–4 years): FactoryTalk View Studio, PanelView Plus.
  • Robot Programming: Ability to touch up paths and troubleshoot stoppages.
