About the Role

Reliance One, Inc. is hiring an Automation Project Engineer to lead plant-wide automation initiatives. This role focuses on the implementation, upgrade, and integration of control systems across processing and packaging operations. The Automation Project Engineer will manage projects from concept to commissioning while collaborating closely with operations, maintenance, and external partners to ensure efficient, reliable, and compliant systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of automation and controls projects across multiple facilities.
• Implement and upgrade PLC/HMI systems, SCADA platforms, and plant control networks, primarily using Allen Bradley (Logix 5000, CompactLogix, ControlLogix).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and OEMs to develop automated solutions for batching, separation, pasteurization, packaging, and CIP systems.
• Support system commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of automated processes.
• Ensure all automation systems meet FDA, PMO, OSHA, MIOSHA/IOSHA, and Sanitary Design requirements.
• Manage project documentation, system drawings, and compliance records.
• Train plant teams on newly implemented or modified systems.
• Proactively identify and resolve automation risks or inefficiencies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong background in industrial automation, process control, and project leadership in a manufacturing setting.
• Hands-on experience with PLC/HMI programming, SCADA systems, and plant automation networks.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
