MPU/Battery Specialist - Solar Foreman

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Foreman MPU/Battery Specialist is responsible for performing residential main panel upgrades, battery installations, and service-related electrical tasks with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and high-quality workmanship. This role supports solar storage installations and ensures systems are up to code and pass inspections.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform residential main panel upgrades (MPUs), including "like for like" replacements and 400AMP upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and repair residential electrical systems and components.
  • Install and provide electrical expertise on a solar installation crew while completing quality installations based upon design specifications
  • Supervising the work of all site operations
  • Coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Monitoring site progress
  • Communicating in a professional, courteous and respectful way with all employees and clients
  • Accurately read and interpret electrical plan sets and schematics.
  • Install and configure battery/solar storage systems, including backed-up load panels.
  • Maintain solar storage certifications and proficiency with battery system installations.
  • Understand and demonstrate basic knowledge of solar system components.
  • Effectively communicate with internal teams and customers in a timely, professional manner.
  • Secure necessary materials in advance and prepare for each job efficiently.
  • Follow Harmon Electric safety guidelines, procedures, protocols, and policies.
  • Install electrical conduit and pull wire according to code.
  • Work independently and problem-solve on-site challenges.
  • Ensure installations pass inspection and coordinate timely service restorations.
  • Maintain clean and professional job sites.
  • Collaborate with customers, teammates, and management in a respectful and productive manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in solar installation and electrical work, preferably residential solar
  • Ability to install residential solar PV systems including batteries, from start to finish, including all phases of installation
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, solar PV integration, storage systems, and residential main panel upgrades
  • Solar storage certifications and OSHA 30 certification required - or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficient in reading construction drawings, blueprints, project plans, and technical diagrams
  • Understanding of construction trades, materials, methods, and permitting/regulatory requirements
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, efficient, and reliable
  • Ability to both perform and delegate work effectively, with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with clients, colleagues, and team members; must be able to read and write in English
  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities or schedules
  • Maintains a consistently positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with a willingness to learn and take on tasks outside of one’s comfort zone
  • Conducts safety meetings and daily evaluations of working conditions
  • Follows all Harmon Electric safety guidelines, procedures, protocols, and policies
  • Valid driver’s license with clean 5-year MVR and reliable transportation


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week or more, if required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, stooping, crawling, climbing ladders, and working on rooftops.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be physically active and able to stand or move continuously throughout the workday.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and on ladders.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple job sites in and around Phoenix, and potentially statewide.
  • Must provide own tools necessary to perform job duties.
  • Valid driver license and proof of insurability required when job duties involve vehicle use.
  • Requires exercising discretion in the decision-making process and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding customer, employee, and company proprietary information.
  • Pass background check and drug screening.
