Senior Tax Accountant

Location: Madison or Brookfield, WI (Hybrid Option) or Fully Remote

Key Responsibilities

·      Prepare and review complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, S-corps, partnerships, and trusts

·      Collaborate with clients to provide year-round tax planning, strategy, and compliance support

·      Research and communicate findings on complex tax issues in clear, actionable language

·      Supervise or mentor junior staff, assisting with technical questions and reviewing work as needed

·      Support clients during IRS and state audits, notices, or other correspondence

·      Work within cloud-based accounting and tax platforms to streamline workflow and client collaboration

·      Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax regulations and best practices

Qualifications

·      CPA license or EA required (or in progress)

·      4–7+ years of recent public accounting experience with a focus on tax compliance and planning

·      Proficiency in modern tax software (e.g., ProConnect, UltraTax, CCH Axcess, Drake, etc.)

·      Experience working with cloud accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero)

·      Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients

·      Ability to work independently and in a team environment, whether remote or in-office

·      Prior experience supervising or mentoring tax staff is a plus
