We are assisting our client, Westby Co-op Credit Union (WCCU), with the recruitment and selection of a Chief Financial Officer. WCCU is seeking a strategic, mission-driven leader to join its executive team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This key role is responsible for shaping and guiding the Credit Union’s financial strategy, promoting long-term sustainability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with Board directives. The ideal candidate will provide leadership across accounting, finance, and back-office functions, while fostering a member-first culture and driving organizational growth.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and balance numerous general ledgers, deposit accounts, investment portfolios and credit union debt according to ethical standards above reproach and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Prepare, implement, and supervise the budget, in accordance with the Board approved allocations (long and short term).
- Prepare all financial reports necessary for government agencies, audit purposes, and various monthly reporting, including secondary market investments.
- Direct the allocation and management of the corporate portfolio investing for maximum return with minimal risk.
- Manage funding of Secondary Market Mortgage Loans.
- Analyze financial products to ensure competitiveness and soundness for WCCU and our members.
- Serve as liaison for investments, audits, and exams, assisting them with requests or suggestions as needed.
- Ensure that the President is kept fully informed on the conditions and financial operations of the Credit Union, and of all important factors influencing them.
- Serve on committees and attend board meetings to present or analyze financial information.
- Oversee select vendor contracts in direct relationship with the position, as assigned.
- Help facilitate contract negotiations.
- Keep current on regulatory changes, economic data, and market trends to assist in maximizing the credit union’s financial portfolio.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the credit union’s finance and accounting functions
- Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficient operation of a variety of general office equipment such as a computer, software applications, typewriter, calculator, telephone, copy machine, fax machine and other similar devices or programs related to the position.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, or accounting field; or comparable experience required
- At least 10 years of experience in an accounting / financial field required. Supervisory experience is required
- Master of Business Administration degree or CPA license preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Frequent standing and walking and occasional climbing, bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying of usually light materials
- Frequent mental and visual concentration required for computer usage
- Office environment
