Summary of Responsibilities

As a Senior Tax Associate at Corient's Shaker Heights office, you will be a key member of our tax team, working directly with three Tax Managers and collaborating closely with Wealth Advisors to deliver comprehensive tax compliance and planning services to ultra-high-net-worth families. You will review work prepared by staff, mentor junior team members, and communicate directly with clients – not just crunch numbers in the back office. You'll gain exposure to complex tax returns (1040s, 1041s, 1065s, 709s, and more) and learn how tax strategy intersects with estate planning, investment management, and multi-generational wealth transfer. 

Essential Functions

• Prepare & self-review individual, trust, gift, partnership, and foundation returns 
• Review staff work – catch errors, provide feedback, teach 
• Communicate directly with UHNW clients – answer questions, provide updates 
• Collaborate with Wealth Advisors, Trust team, and Personal CFO services 
• Assist with tax research and proactive planning strategies 
• Support quarterly estimated tax projections (June, September, January) 
• Mentor junior staff – answer questions, show software input, explain tax treatments 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. MST, MBA, or JD a plus 
• 4–6 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or a family office environment. Strong experience with 1040s (individual) and 1041s (trusts) required.  
• At least 1 year of experience reviewing work prepared by others. 
• CPA or CPA exam parts passed strongly preferred. Enrolled Agent (EA) or JD with state licensure also accepted. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) required. Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystems, or BNA Income Tax Planner is a plus (training provided). 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Compensation

• Base salary: $110,000-$125,000 per year
