Sr. Civil Site Development Designer

Location: On site, Phoenix, AZ

A growing organization in the design and development space is adding to its civil team and seeking a motivated design professional who enjoys solving real site challenges through thoughtful, buildable solutions. This role offers the chance to work on impactful land development projects, collaborate with experienced multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to work that shapes projects from early planning through final documentation. It is an excellent fit for someone who wants to do more than drafting and take an active role in site design, technical coordination, and problem solving.

What You Will Do

• Prepare site development design packages for commercial and other complex properties, including site layout, grading, drainage, and utility planning.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop and revise plans, surfaces, profiles, and supporting technical documentation.
• Apply civil engineering fundamentals to evaluate grading, stormwater movement, and overall site functionality.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external project partners to keep deliverables aligned with schedule, design intent, and technical requirements.
• Contribute design thinking beyond drafting by helping resolve conflicts, improve constructability, and support efficient project execution.
• Manage assigned work independently while maintaining strong communication across architecture, engineering, development, and construction stakeholders.
• Assist with permitting and agency review processes by organizing technical information, responding to comments, and incorporating revisions into plan sets.

What We Are Looking For

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
• Relevant experience in civil engineering, land development, or site development design.
• Demonstrated expertise using AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design, drafting, and land development projects.
• Understanding of hydrology, grading, and core civil engineering principles.
• Ability to perform design work beyond drafting, including site layout, utilities, and technical problem solving.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• EIT preferred.
• Familiarity with HydroCAD, InfraWorks, Navisworks, or similar civil engineering and modeling software is preferred.
