Human Resources Manager

Location: On site in New York City, NY


A growing professional services organization with a strong footprint in the built environment is seeking a Human Resources Manager to help shape an exceptional employee experience. This is a high impact role for a seasoned HR leader who enjoys balancing strategy with execution, someone who can strengthen people programs, support managers, and help the business scale with consistency, care, and accountability. The right person will be energized by the opportunity to influence culture, elevate performance, and build trust across a collaborative, mission driven team.


In this role, you will serve as a key partner to leadership and employees across the organization. You will guide day to day HR operations while helping the business strengthen engagement, performance, and retention.


Key areas of focus include:

  • Lead employee relations efforts, including coaching, issue resolution, policy guidance, and support for sensitive workplace matters.
  • Partner with leaders on performance management activities such as goal alignment, feedback cycles, development planning, and promotion readiness.
  • Manage benefits administration, including enrollments, employee support, issue follow up, and reporting coordination.
  • Help strengthen manager effectiveness through training support, documentation practices, and practical guidance on maintaining a compliant, professional workplace.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and talent development initiatives that improve organizational health and team capability.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding activity, including coordination with hiring leaders and helping new hires transition successfully into the organization.
  • Assist with HR process improvement and ensure people practices align with applicable employment laws and internal standards.


What We Are Looking For

  • Seven or more years of experience in human resources, employee relations, HR operations, or a closely related function.
  • Strong background in performance management, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential matters with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Experience supporting teams in architecture, engineering, construction, or another project driven professional services environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting recruiting efforts is a plus.


Education

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred.
