Software Engineer

Our client is building advanced autonomous technology for demanding real world environments, and they are hiring a Software Engineer to help expand a fast-growing engineering team in North Carolina. This is an opportunity to work close to the product, close to the mission, and close to decision makers. The person in this role will have the chance to influence architecture, solve complex technical problems, and help move ideas from concept through validation and deployment in a highly hands on setting. Focus
- Design and deliver production ready software for autonomous or mission critical systems
- Create reusable libraries and services that can support multiple products and future platform growth
- Build features that improve mission workflows, operator experience, and system level performance
- Work across software, hardware, test, and manufacturing groups to move products from concept into field use
- Support simulation, bench validation, and live system testing to improve reliability and readiness
- Investigate software issues observed in operational environments and implement durable fixes
- Help define application behavior for autonomy, mission execution, and subsystem integration
- Contribute ideas that improve engineering workflows, product capability, and development speed
Skill Set
- 3 plus years of experience developing software in C plus plus and or Python
- Background in robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high reliability environments
- Strong fundamentals in algorithms, concurrency, software design, debugging, and optimization
- Experience integrating software into larger systems that include hardware, messaging layers, or sensor inputs
- Ability to solve problems independently and work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Comfort working onsite with a deeply collaborative engineering team
- Helpful experience includes MAVLink, PX4, ArduPilot, Docker, geospatial tooling, offline first systems, or multi agent autonomy
- Experience supporting deployed systems and working through field issues is strongly valued
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field preferred
- Equivalent practical experience building and delivering complex systems will also be considered
- Candidates should be comfortable in a defense aligned environment and able to meet standard background screening requirements
