Buy Back Manager
Location: Remote, Nationwide
A high growth organization in the infrastructure and technology supply space is looking for a Buy Back Manager to expand its national asset recovery and equipment acquisition efforts. This is a high impact role for someone who enjoys building relationships, negotiating complex deals, and turning underutilized equipment into business value. The right person will help shape a growing buy back function, influence revenue opportunities, and work across a broad mix of customers, markets, and product categories. The position offers strong visibility, meaningful ownership, and the chance to play a central role in a fast-moving, opportunity rich environment.
The Buy Back Manager will lead efforts to source surplus and decommissioned equipment from organizations across the United States. This person will identify new acquisition opportunities, assess resale potential, structure purchase offers, and guide opportunities from initial outreach through close. Success in this role requires commercial instincts, persistence, sound judgment, and the ability to evaluate asset value in dynamic secondary markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and grow a national pipeline of organizations seeking to monetize surplus infrastructure, technology, and network assets.
- Lead outbound business development, account engagement, and relationship management with enterprise, carrier, contractor, utility, and channel contacts.
- Review equipment lists, product details, condition notes, and market activity to determine pricing and recovery potential.
- Develop and present purchase proposals, trade in options, and value recovery recommendations that align with business goals.
- Negotiate commercial terms, coordinate due diligence, and move opportunities through execution with urgency and professionalism.
- Partner with internal teams and external service providers to support inspections, pickups, freight planning, and asset intake.
- Track pipeline activity, buying trends, and program performance using CRM tools, spreadsheets, and reporting discipline.
- Stay current on market demand, product shifts, and secondary channel activity to improve buying strategy and margin performance.
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, asset recovery, ITAD, secondary market sales, or related commercial buying environments.
- Demonstrated success in business development, supplier engagement, or negotiated purchasing.
- Ability to assess the value of used or excess equipment and make sound buying recommendations.
- Comfort working in a remote setting with a national territory and a self-directed workflow.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, CRM systems, and general pipeline management practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, operations, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Background
- Experience working with technology hardware, infrastructure equipment, electronics, industrial components, or related categories.
- Exposure to reverse logistics, resale channels, refurbishment programs, liquidation, or circular economy models.
- Familiarity with fast paced, entrepreneurial environments where initiative and follow-through matter.
Why Candidates Will Be Interested
This is an opportunity to own a meaningful function, help scale a revenue generating program, and work with a business that values resourcefulness, speed, and commercial creativity. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys uncovering opportunity in overlooked assets and building lasting partnerships in the process.
