Senior Test Engineer (Automation) – Melbourne | Perm & Contract

We’re partnering with a large, well-known Australian business going through a major digital and AI-led transformation — building out new squads focused on automation, customer experience and intelligent systems.

They’re scaling their engineering capability and are now looking for Senior Test Engineers to join both permanent and contract teams.

This isn’t a traditional QA role.

You’ll be embedded in modern engineering squads working across automation-first environments, contributing to how quality is built into systems — not bolted on at the end.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and building automated testing frameworks

• Working closely with engineers on microservices and APIs

• Embedding quality across CI/CD pipelines

• Contributing to test strategy and engineering standards

• Supporting delivery of scalable, high-volume platforms

You’ll be part of a team building systems that directly impact customer experience, automation and AI-driven workflows.

Tech Environment

• API & microservices architecture

• Automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress etc.)

• CI/CD pipelines

• Cloud environments (AWS preferred)

• Modern engineering practices (Agile, DevOps)

What They’re Looking For

• Strong experience in automation testing (not manual-heavy profiles)

• Experience working in engineering-led environments

• Comfortable working closely with developers

• Someone who takes ownership of quality, not just execution

• Collaborative, low ego, team-first mindset
