About the Role

Cameratta Companies is seeking a hands-on Civil or Environmental Engineer to support the engineering, permitting and field execution of large-scale master-planned residential communities throughout Southwest Florida.

This is not strictly a desk-based engineering position. The Engineer will spend significant time in the field on active development projects, monitoring earthwork, drainage, utilities, environmental restoration and other critical site infrastructure.

The position will work closely with Cameratta’s internal development team, outside engineers and consultants, contractors, surveyors and regulatory agencies throughout the development process. This is an opportunity to work on the developer side of significant residential projects and gain exposure to projects from planning and permitting through infrastructure installation and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support for large-scale residential and master-planned land development projects.
• Spend significant time in the field monitoring active site development and construction activities.
• Review site development plans, grading, drainage, stormwater systems, utilities, restoration plans and environmental work.
• Monitor earthwork, drainage, utility installation, environmental restoration and other infrastructure activities to help ensure work is consistent with approved plans and project requirements.
• Identify field issues and coordinate with contractors, engineers, consultants and internal team members to develop practical solutions.
• Coordinate with outside civil engineers, environmental consultants, surveyors, contractors and other project partners.

• Support stormwater management, environmental and development permitting through agencies including ACOE, SFWMD, FDEP, Lee County and other applicable governmental agencies.
• Review and coordinate construction drawings, exhibits, technical reports and engineering deliverables.
• Perform and/or review quantity takeoffs, calculations, design information and project documentation.
• Develop and maintain project data, mapping and technical information.
• Track engineering, design and permitting milestones to help keep projects moving forward.
• Support construction administration and provide technical assistance throughout infrastructure installation.
• Participate in site inspections and monitor project progress, construction quality and compliance with engineering and environmental requirements.
• Assist with engineering due diligence and technical evaluation of development opportunities, as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, land development, site development or a related field.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with engineers, contractors, consultants, governmental agencies and internal development professionals.
• Comfortable working both in an office environment and extensively in the field on active development sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT/EI certification, PE license or actively pursuing professional licensure.
• Experience with residential land development or large-scale master-planned communities.
• Experience with site development, earthwork, drainage, stormwater management and utility infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Florida development, environmental and stormwater permitting requirements.
• Experience working with SFWMD, FDEP, ACOE, Lee County or other Florida regulatory agencies.
• Experience with hydrology/hydraulics or drainage modeling software.
• Experience coordinating engineering consultants and contractors during construction.
• Southwest Florida land development experience is highly desirable.
