Director, Supply Chain Operations

Senior Leadership  ·  DFW Metroplex, TX

ABOUT THE COMPANY

A rapidly growing, mission-driven aerospace and defense manufacturer and systems integrator serving the U.S. Government and its allies. Operations span more than 20 NAICS codes including aircraft manufacturing, munitions systems integration, ISR technology, laser systems, missile guidance, specialized container fabrication, and FAA Part 145 repair station operations. Multiple manufacturing sites across TX, AZ, MD, and ID.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a high-impact, hands-on role for the organization — a senior leader hired to help build and institutionalize a compliant, scalable supply chain function across a multi-site, multi-NAICS defense business. The Director of Supply Chain Operations reports directly to the VP of Supply Chain and will play a key role in building the team, systems, processes, and compliance infrastructure needed to support aggressive growth.

The company is integrating acquired entities and implementing Epicor ERP. This requires a leader who has operated in defense supply chain environments — someone energized by building scalable processes, committed to warfighter readiness, and capable of driving compliance without creating bureaucratic overhead.

Core ownership includes supporting the development of a FAR/DFARS-compliant purchasing system and Government Property Management program capable of withstanding DCAA, DCMA, and CPSR review; managing procurement across the company’s diverse NAICS operations including supplier qualification, negotiation, and small business subcontracting compliance; and contributing to supply chain process design within the active Epicor ERP implementation. The Director will also support risk and business continuity planning and serve as a key cross-functional supply chain partner alongside operations, engineering, finance, and contracts leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Government Compliance & Certified Systems

•  Support development and implementation of a compliant Government Property Management system under FAR Part 45 and DFARS 245, covering GFP and CAP receipt, identification, records, utilization, and disposition

•  Actively participate in CPSR, GPAR, and other government system reviews and audits — including file preparation, process documentation, and direct interface with DCMA and DCAA reviewers

•  Maintain working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and export control requirements as they relate to supply chain activities

Procurement & Supplier Management

•  Execute a supplier qualification, performance management, and development program across a geographically dispersed supply base; ensure small business subcontracting compliance including subcontracting plan development where required

Operations & Continuous Improvement

•  Support establishment of inventory management, demand planning, and materials management processes across all manufacturing sites

•  Identify and drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies to reduce lead times, costs, and supply risk

Risk Management

•  Identify and help mitigate supply chain risks including sole-source dependencies, geopolitical exposure, supplier financial health, counterfeit parts, and long-lead constraints

•  Contribute to a business continuity plan to sustain delivery commitments to the U.S. Government under adverse conditions

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

•  Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field

•  8+ years of progressive supply chain or procurement experience

•  3+ years in a leadership role managing teams and/or cross-functional projects

•  Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and subcontract flow-down requirements

•  Direct experience participating in or supporting a CPSR or equivalent government purchasing system audit — including file preparation and DCMA/DCAA interface

•  Experience procuring in aerospace, defense, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment, including familiarity with ITAR/EAR

•  U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

•  Willingness to travel up to 40% across multiple U.S. sites

Preferred

•  Master’s degree (MBA or MS in supply chain/operations)

•  APICS CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent certification

•  Experience in both small business (<$50M) and mid-size or large prime defense environments

•  10+ years in defense supply chain with increasing responsibility

•  Epicor ERP experience

•  Active DoD Secret clearance

•  Existing A&D supply base relationships, Southwest and Mid-Atlantic

Location : McKinney, TX (DFW Metroplex) — on-site, strongly preferred
