ABOUT THE COMPANY

A global leader in high-performance interconnect and electro-mechanical solutions, this company designs and manufactures precision-engineered connectors, cable assemblies, and integrated systems for mission-critical applications across industrial, medical, and defense markets.

They’re known for uncompromising quality, innovation, and reliability — the partner customers turn to when performance matters most.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) serves as the bridge between engineering, sales, and the customer — a technical consultant and trusted advisor. This role combines problem-solving with hands-on customer engagement: identifying requirements early, driving design-ins, and helping define new product or customization opportunities that meet real-world needs.

You’ll work closely with customers, regional sales teams, and internal engineering to deliver technical solutions, strengthen relationships, and grow market share.

*Seeking US Military Veterans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify customer requirements before they’re stated — drive design-in of existing and new products in partnership with customers, sales, and engineering teams.
  • Translate customer applications into detailed mechanical, electrical, and environmental requirements for connector and cable assembly solutions.
  • Guide customers through product line features, options, and customization capabilities early in the design phase.
  • Assist the sales team in preparing RFQs and technical requirements for custom connectors or assemblies.
  • Develop and validate part numbers, BOMs, and component alternatives for rapid prototype and sample turnaround.
  • Generate and implement system-level technical solutions within customer programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with design engineers and technical decision-makers, presenting solutions and driving customer confidence.
  • Partner with sales to jointly manage design-in and demand creation opportunities.
  • Provide market and technical insight to support competitive pricing, NPI strategy, and product expansion recommendations.
  • Support new product introductions, launches, and training sessions for internal teams and customers.
  • Conduct application training, lunch & learns, and technical presentations for design centers, distributors, and rep partners.
  • Attend industry tradeshows, conferences, and technical events to represent the company and expand the customer base.
  • Travel approximately 40–50% throughout the territory to support sales and customer engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering required.
  • 5-8 + years of experience (military + civilian) in the connector or "related" electro-mechanical components industry (mandatory).
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning (GD&T), CAD, and 3D modeling — able to quickly model design concepts.
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications for tolerance, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Hands-on technical aptitude in electro-mechanical design, testing, and system integration.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence at all levels of the customer organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD tools.
  • Experience working with military, aerospace, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Military veterans strongly encouraged to apply.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and field-based role with extensive customer interaction.
  • Requires travel (40–50%) across the assigned region.
  • Standard office conditions when not traveling.
