Optidge is a home-grown remote-first digital marketing agency supporting small and medium businesses with SEO, paid media, and web development services. We’re a team of ~40 spread through the US and internationally, aligning to values of Mentorship, Stewardship, Excellence, and Communication.  

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Web Developer to join our growing team and provide dedicated support across our WordPress and Shopify client websites.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with our Lead Developer and SEO team to own the day-to-day website maintenance, content publishing, and technical SEO updates that keep our clients’ websites performing at their best. Your work will free our senior developers to focus on complex development initiatives while giving you the opportunity to grow your technical skills through hands-on client work and mentorship.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of WordPress and Shopify experience who enjoys solving problems, communicates proactively, and takes ownership of routine work with a high level of quality. You’ll work across multiple client websites, balancing planned projects with ongoing maintenance while collaborating with teammates through Slack, Teamwork, and email.

This role is remote across LATAM, with a preference for candidates in the Buenos Aires (GMT-3) timezone. Some overlap with U.S. Central and Eastern Time is required.  

DAY-TO-DAY & GROWTH AT OPTIDGE

Year One

You’ll spend your time:

• Publishing and formatting blog posts, landing pages, and website content in WordPress and Shopify.
• Applying SEO-driven updates, including redirects, meta tags, broken-link remediation, and on-page optimizations.
• Publishing scheduled content and managing routine plugin updates.
• Identifying and resolving 404 errors and misconfigured redirects.
• Running website health checks, including broken-link reviews and basic SEO audits.
• Supporting the SEO team with ongoing client content initiatives.
• Collaborating with the Lead Developer, SEO team, and Account Managers to deliver client requests.
• Managing project deliverables through Teamwork while communicating proactively in Slack and email. 

Within One Month

You’ll:

• Complete onboarding and understand our client operations.
• Begin contributing to your first client projects.
• Own routine WordPress and Shopify tasks involving content creation and page updates.
• Independently manage routine WordPress maintenance and publishing tasks.
• Feel comfortable escalating blockers and technical questions to your Lead Developer.  

By Three Months

You’ll:

• Actively support client website redesigns and redevelopment projects alongside your Lead Developer.
• Successfully complete multiple client projects with little to no supervision.
• Consistently deliver high-quality work with minimal rework.
• Proactively identify website issues before they become larger problems.  

By Six Months

You’ll:

• Take lower-complexity projects from concept through launch.
• Identify the right collaborators and coordinate work when needed.
• Know exactly who to partner with across the Optidge team for different client needs.
• Help develop project timelines, deliverables, and internal communication strategies.
• Confidently manage your own portfolio of routine client work.  

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role means becoming a dependable resource who consistently delivers high-quality website work while creating additional capacity for our senior developers to focus on strategic initiatives.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, you should have accomplished the below and be confident in owning each area on our team:

1. Experience in a work environment that requires prioritization and project management; you’ll have unique projects at various stages to juggle in your day-to-day.
2. WordPress and Shopify experience editing themes, posts, plugins, and configuring child themes with minimal supervision.
3. Experience publishing and formatting SEO-friendly content while implementing redirects, metadata, and routine website updates.
4. Awareness of SEO and a desire to grow your skills in this function; you’ll explore unique codebases and see award-winning digital marketing at work.
5. Strong attention to detail and experience collaborating remotely using Slack, Microsoft Teams, or similar communication platforms.
6. Experience using project management tools such as Teamwork, Asana, ClickUp, or similar.
