If you're looking for the opportunity to develop your skills and work with some of the best and most exciting companies in the US and beyond, Proppel can help.
What we're looking for
A fast-growing US-based CPG and DTC food brand is looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to become the analytical backbone of the business. Operating across Direct-to-Consumer, CPG/Retail, and Foodservice channels, this company has seen explosive growth over the past year and needs someone to build the data foundation from the ground up. This is not a role to maintain what someone else built; you will be the one who builds it.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build, own, and continuously improve performance dashboards across DTC, CPG/Retail, and Foodservice channels, aggregating data from Shopify, QuickBooks, Cin7, and 3PL systems into decision-ready reporting.
- Track and monitor Cost of Goods Sold at the SKU level across all channels, building landed COGS models that account for freight, duties, packaging, and variable cost inputs.
- Own the full data architecture from source systems to usable reporting outputs, documenting workflows and ensuring everything is explainable, repeatable, and scalable.
- Deliver recurring weekly, monthly, and quarterly channel performance reports to leadership, translating raw data into clear narratives with context, trends, and actionable insights.
- Manage accounts receivable aging, maintain a deduction tracker across channels, and support month-end close by delivering reconciled revenue, deductions, and cost data to Finance.
- Serve as the go-to analytical resource for Operations, Finance, Sales, and Marketing, supporting pricing, inventory, and promotional decisions with data you own end-to-end.
Requirements
- 4+ years of proven experience in a data, analytics, or business intelligence role with a demonstrated track record.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, dynamic arrays, and data modeling.
- Experience building SKU-level margin or COGS models and a solid understanding of unit economics.
- Comfort with Claude.ai or similar AI-assisted tools to automate analysis and build intelligent reporting layers.
- Strong logical reasoning and the ability to identify data anomalies before someone else notices them.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-moving startup environment and communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Availability to work Eastern Time Zone hours.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Shopify, QuickBooks, Cin7, or comparable ERP/3PL systems.
- Background in CPG, food and beverage, or multi-channel consumer brands.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Google Looker Studio.
- Exposure to landed cost modeling, supply chain cost structures, or basic scripting in Python or Google Apps Script.
Benefits
- Competitive USD salary
- 100% remote work
- This is a highly visible, cross-functional role with real influence across every department in the business.
